Reading new book

My book order came in today. Started reading 電車男 (Train Guy) at the gym. 45 minutes on the stationary bike breezed through like nothing - only got to the part where the main character takes his first "step" towards...a life transforming experience (not telling you what it is, in case you read it for yourself).

There was a note on the book jacket (in small print, of course) that said that "If you don't understand all of the "lingo" (my translation) in the text, open up the book cover to see what they mean"...I looked and looked but found nothing. Does anyone know where the secret decoder is hidden?
